21-year-old Branxholm man Jacob Heatlie Johnston appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court this morning, where he pled guilty to two counts of bestiality.

The most recent incident, which took place on June 10 last year, saw Johnston lead a “beloved pet goat” out of its enclosure and through Branxholm park to a public toilet.

The following morning, a cleaner discovered the ‘graphic scene’, raising concerns for the well-being of the goat.

Investigations were conducted, including DNA swabs and a veterinary examination, which led to the charges against Johnston.

Another incident occurred in Branxholm on November 3 of last year, however it is unclear whether the same goat was involved in both incidents.

Johnston is set to be sentenced in the Supreme Court on September 4.
